We open up England`s spectacular historic environment for everyone, using campaigns, information, digital resources, media, our unsurpassed archive, publishing, public information and exhibitions. Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings is a building with an amazing story to tell and we want you to make sure that public and professional audiences alike can get as excited about it as we are.

The Public Engagement and Promotion Manager will be responsible for providing communications and marketing support for the next crucial phase in this high-profile project to bring Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings back to life. Working with the team on site and rooted in both local and virtual communities of interest, you will help us tell the story of the Mill and build the audiences and markets that will be critical to its success.

Working with local stakeholders including the media, community groups, education and training providers, developers, local and national politicians and social and economic players, you will help the site and its team speak with a clear and engaging voice about the vision for the project, winning support and enthusiasm for the project among identified audiences.

The postholder will be part of Historic England`s Marketing team, reporting to the Marketing Manager and working closely with the Media team, with most of their work and day-to-day liaison embedded within the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings project team. The Project Lead will be a key relationship for the postholder. You will work closely with staff from across Historic England Communications, as well as the Shrewsbury team to devise and deliver a successful programme of communication and engagement.

Contract length: two years
Hours: three days per week
