These cottages are a very carefully designed set of almshouses. The detailing is of high quality and the overall effect is an interesting example of Edwardian picturesque composition. They have the inscription 'AINSWORTH HOMES BUILT AD 1907'. Their plan is ingenious and compact. Each cottage has a small entrance hall, a scullery, a parlour, a kitchen, a privy (toilet) and coal storage.
