Austin Friary Tower, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear

The Austin Friary Tower is part of an Augustinian Friary that was built in the 13th century and altered in the 16th century. The friars obeyed the rule of St Augustine and dressed in black robes. The first records to mention these friars in Newcastle date from the 1290s.
