Barnston Memorial, Farndon, Cheshire

This obelisk was built in memory of Roger Barnston Esq in 1858. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Crimean War and served at Sebastopol. It states how he was injured at Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny and died at Cawnpore in India in 1857. He was buried there at the age of just 31. The Barnstone family lived in Farndon for over 600 years.
