Downing College Gate Lodge and Gates, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

This shows the Regent Street entrance to Downing College. It was built in 1834 and extensively altered in 1966. The college was founded in 1800, under the will of Sir George Downing. Downing had served under Oliver Cromwell in the Civil War and built Downing Street (where the Prime Minister lives).
