Gas works, High Brooms, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent

The Tunbridge Wells New Gas Works by the architect R P Spice. Gas production began in Tunbridge Wells in 1845 in Golden Lane but by 1880 had moved out to 'a sequestered valley' at High Brooms. The gas works ceased operation in 1967, but the gas holders survive. (From The Builder July 1880)
