Stonehenge and Barrows, Wiltshire

The stone circle at Stonehenge is one of many monuments in a wider prehistoric sacred landscape that became a World Heritage Site in 1986. It includes 350 burial mounds and major prehistoric monuments such as the Stonehenge Avenue, the Cursus, Woodhenge and Durrington Walls. This image shows two groups of burial mounds plus the outline of the processional avenue that led to Stonehenge. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
