HORSFORTH LS 18 Retaining walls or railway cutting extending southwards from south portal of Bramhope tunnel, at SE 241 407

GV II

Retaining walls of cutting on Leeds to Thirsk Railway. 1845-49: Engineer, Thomas Grainger. Rock-faced sandstone. On slightly curved line extending approximately 300 metres southwards from the portal. Walls, and slightly-projecting piers at regular intervals, have a concave batter; squared coping. Included for group value.
