This is an opportunity for an experienced and creative ancient monuments specialist to join our Development Management team in Birmingham as an Inspector. You will apply our ethos of Constructive Conservation to help manage change to the most significant archaeology in the West Midlands.
Your task will be to deliver Historic England`s advice in response to pre-application and formal consultations across the diverse and fascinating West Midlands. At its heart this post involves advising on scheduled monument consent applications, planning applications and management advice in relation to places of archaeological interest.
The post requires that you take responsibility for a heavy case load and work in close consultation with colleagues in Heritage at Risk, Historic Places and Business support teams as well as management to achieve the overall objectives of the organisation. We strive to provide exemplary customer service to the wide range of people and organisations that we deal with. You will deal with a great diversity of customers and it is important to be able to communicate appropriately and to deliver a high level of expertise in an accessible manner. There will be the occasional need to deal with the media.
You will also be asked to manage the performance and development of an Assistant Inspector.
