Description

Historic England is looking for a motivated and experienced front-end developer to join the team. Collectively we have a passion to create digital experiences that users just love. We want to evolve our offer to increasingly inspire and motivate our users, for them to be ever more engaged with us and with heritage.

As the public body that champion`s England`s historic environment, we help people understand, value and care for a diverse range of cultural records from the stone-age to the contemporary. We also continue to support English Heritage through a shared services agreement, as they manage a range of historic places across the country as a charity.

Keeping focused on the 4 agile principles, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the user interface of Historic England`s digital offer. Working as part of a team including UX, designers and back-end developers you will manage the interaction between the back-end of the website and the user.

We are looking for someone who can bring skills in HTML, CSS, SASS and JavaScript to a dynamic team of web designers and back-end developers. Based in the historic railway village in Swindon you will be working as part of an agile Scrum team to maintain and develop our digital offer using a highly collaborative approach. With prior experience of working in a web development role, you will have knowledge of mobile first and responsive design principles.
