Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join us as the Head of Partnerships & Philanthropy. You will build and lead a professional fundraising and business development team, which maximises income to enable Historic England to thrive into the long term.

As Head of Partnerships & Philanthropy you will build and develop strategic and philanthropic relationships with those who are best placed to support the organisation`s fundraising aims, working closely with the Chairman, Chief Executive, Commissioners and Trustees of The Historic England Foundation, to ensure we achieve our vision and mission.

What you`ll be doing:

You`ll be responsible for setting up and embedding a vision and forward growth strategy for securing sustainable funding for Historic England through philanthropy, partnerships funding and commercial business development, fostering an organisation-wide commitment to fundraising. Key external relationships will include major donors (individuals, charitable trusts and corporate sponsors), Government departments, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other public funding bodies.

In this role you`ll guide the work of The Historic England Foundation, creating a shared vision and strategy for generating philanthropic income in support of Historic England priority projects. You`ll develop and deliver a forward three-year business plan for the Foundation which sets out annual targets for philanthropic support from individuals, trusts and corporate supporters.

You`ll lead the identification and cultivation of, and negotiation with, high net-worth individuals and other prospective donors and supporters to inspire and encourage major gifts. You`ll lead ongoing stewardship of the most important of Historic England`s funding partners and charitable supporters.

You`ll develop, motivate and lead a confident and highly professional team, empowering and supporting them to achieve their goals in order to maximize the impact of philanthropy, partnerships and business development, regularly using insights to foster continuous improvement.

Who we are looking for:

-Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, motivating and nurturing talent
-Experience of successfully creating and delivering integrated strategies for income generation across multiple areas
-Wide-ranging strategic and applied fundraising experience and a proven track record of high achievement
-Experience of bespoke cultivation, face-to-face solicitation and stewardship of high net worth individual donors and supporters
-Successful engagement of volunteer advocates / Board members / Trustees in support of philanthropic giving
-Experience of influencing and collaborating with a wide range of partners at all levels
-Experience in managing expenditure and income budgets and communicating financial information
-Able to write and edit to a high quality - to produce inspiring fundraising proposals, clear strategic recommendations and evaluation reports
