About Heritage Gateway

The Heritage Gateway provides access to local and national records on the historic environment and is managed by Historic England.

We are replacing the existing Heritage Gateway website and are pleased to be sharing this pre-release (Beta) version of the new Heritage Gateway for testing, feedback and bug identification. Access is limited to a selected group of users for testing: please do not onwards share the website URL.

Some datasets currently available on the existing Heritage Gateway are not yet available on the new website. Their records will be added later. 

Only records that meet the Heritage Gateway Record Schema during validation are published, so new records will continue to be added over time.

Please note this Beta version does not include all elements for the finished Heritage Gateway.

It includes:
•    Keyword search
•    Filtering options
•    Search results
•    HER contact details

It does not include;
•    Location search
•    Map search

We plan to release a public (open) Beta in June.
