Church of St Mary the Virgin (formerly the Ascension), Upwaltham, Chichester - Chichester

This small medieval isolated church stands north of the Chichester-Petworth road on the slope of the South Downs. It consists of an apsidal chancel, nave with timber bellcote, and south porch; built of rubble, plastered, except the porch, which is of flint with brick dressings. At risk due to internal and external cracking to chancel, defective windows and rainwater disposal system. The Development Phase of the Heritage Lottery Fund Grants for Places of Worship scheme has been completed and it is hoped repairs will commence in 2018.
