Church of St Sylvester, Chivelstone - South Hams

Parish church. C15 restored in late C19 or early C20. Slatestone rubble walls. Gabled slate roofs. Good collection of medieval joinery. Small, rural parish church with a number of problems which add up to a significant amount of work: roofs, rainwater goods, damp ingress and structural movement all need addressing. The congregation is making an application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2019 for work to address structural and waterproofing issues, and has commissioned a conservator's report on the Rood and Parclose Screens and Pulpit.
