Church of St Mary, Town End, Middleton in Teesdale - County Durham (UA)
The present church was built in 1878 on the site of an earlier building. Repair works to defective gutters and downpipes, together with leaking gable coping stones and other roof details, were completed in 2018 to stop water ingress into the fabric. Internal lighting has been renewed but redecoration has not been completed due to the discovery of a major outbreak of dry rot to the floor. Discussions are underway to agree a repair and use strategy that will guarantee the long-term future of the building; funding options are being explored.
