Winlaton Mill ironworks, south east of Winlaton Mill village - Gateshead

Most of this large and complex site is protected as it is buried beneath the ground; however, there are important upstanding structures, including the remains of Crowley Dam and spillway. Damaging vegetation was removed by the local authority in 2018. Project development for a proposed repair scheme was funded in 2018 through an Historic England Repair Grant for Heritage at Risk and local authority funding.
