The Bishop's Palace, Tower Road, Paignton - Torbay (UA)
C14 curtain wall and tower, forming part of the medieval fortified residence of the Bishop of Exeter. Vegetation growth, especially valerian on the wall tops and growing from crevices, threatens the medieval walls. Their root system grows to a large bulbous form within the wall, pushing stones out of line and leading to breakdown of the structure. Ivy has also taken hold and is rapidly spreading along the south wall. In 2016 Historic England grant-aided a programme of vegetation removal and door rerfubishment.
