Church of St Michael, East Anstey - North Devon

West tower and south porch C15; nave and chancel rebuilt 1871 by Ashworth. Unrendered stone rubble with ashlar dressings. Slate roof with gables. Most of walls and all of tower pointed in cementicious mix. Widely open joints in stonework of tower. Decay and fracturing to the dressed stone of stringcourses and bell chamber windows. Interior of tower wet and stained with algae. The church was awarded a first round Heritage Lottery Fund Grant for Places of Worship in 2016 and repair work is underway, due to be completed late in 2018.
