Gatehouse to Cathanger, Cathanger Lane, Fivehead - Somerset Council (UA)

Late C16 gatehouse to Cathanger Manor, with central throughway and first floor over. Banded lias and Ham stone, thatched roof, wood coving to eaves. Principal trusses have spread and wall plates have moved outwards. Crude props inserted to support the collars are causing significant deflection to first floor and damage to partition and door jamb. Decay to main beam and joists on south. Thatch thin with water ingress. Historic England staff have provided advice and temporary roof repair has been carried out by the owners.
