Church of St Bartholomew, Newport Road, Tong - Shropshire (UA)

The C15 church of St Bartholomew consists of a nave with aisles, a crossing tower with spire, transepts, a chancel, vestry, south east chapel and a south porch. The Perpendicular Gothic exterior remains largely unaltered with buttressed walls and crenelated parapets decorated with crocketted pinnacles. The spire crown stone is cracked and parts of the tower parapet are displaced. Rust jacking has also caused damage to assorted window mullions and transoms. A Heritage Lottery Grant for Places of Worship was awarded in 2016: repairs are due to commence in the second half of 2018.
