Shrubland Hall, Hemingstone / Barham / Coddenham - Mid Suffolk
Extensive mid-C19 Italianate garden by Charles Barry set in C17 park, for which Humphry Repton prepared a Red Book in 1789 and William Woods advised in 1808. The site is in divided ownership following sale in 2009, with subsequent erection of internal boundary fences. Management of the Old Hall landscape is relatively stable, but the built garden features and planting around the mansion have deteriorated significantly. Historic England is working with the Local Authority to develop strategies to repair key features, improve management of the site, and safeguard its future.
