Wolterton Hall, Itteringham / Wickmere / Erpingham - North Norfolk

Early C18 park and woodland designed as collaboration between Thomas Ripley, Charles Bridgeman and Horatio Walpole, surrounding an early C18 Palladian mansion with mid-C19 gardens laid out by William Sawrey Gilpin. Most of the park is under pasture but small areas remain in arable use. There has been loss of definition of lake margins. Some built structures are in very poor condition, with the Peach House in the kitchen garden in a particularly vulnerable state. The site is in single private ownership and a Parkland Management Plan is informing improved maintenance and ongoing restoration.
