Valley Gardens and South Cliff Gardens - Scarborough
Public gardens, comprising a series of seaside walks and gardens with features from the mid-C19 to the 1930s including contributions from George Knowles, William Skipsey, Sir Joseph Paxton, HW Smith and Alfred Shuttleworth. Deterioration of the wider park combined with cliff erosion is resulting in the loss of sections of the path systems and park integrity. Scarborough Borough Council has been awarded National Lottery Heritage Funding to develop and implement proposals for major restoration of the park. Restoration and cliff stabilisation works are currently being implemented.
