Abney Park Cemetery N16 - Hackney

Laid out as an arboretum cemetery in 1840 from the gardens of two C17 houses. Abney Park is one of London's most important Nonconformist cemeteries. Features of the historic designed landscape survive but are in poor condition and, in places, illegible. A Development Board has been established to guide future management and maintenance of the cemetery. A Conservation Management Plan has been prepared, and a Heritage Lottery Fund/Big Lottery Fund ‘Parks for People’ project for significant parts of its implementation has received a first-round pass and is now in its development phase.
