Abney Park Cemetery N16 - Hackney

Laid out as an arboretum cemetery in 1840 from the gardens of two C17 houses, Abney Park is one of London's most important Nonconformist cemeteries. Features of the historic designed landscape survive but are in poor condition and, in places, illegible. A Development Board is using a Conservation Management Plan to guide future management and maintenance, and volunteers continue to carry out improvements. The Local Authority, with partners, is implementing a major restoration project with grant funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund.
