Shaw House, Newbury / Shaw cum Donnington - West Berkshire (UA)
Earthwork remains of C16/C17 formal gardens and a complex of early C18 former water gardens in much reduced parkland cut through by the A34 south of the canalised River Lambourne. Bought by Berkshire County Council in 1946, National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England grants restored the House as an event venue with partial public access in 2008. Development in the park, fragmented management and poor public realm affects views and landscape components. A Historic England funded Conservation Area Management Plan to understand and sustain significance and manage change is now complete.
