Roman Catholic Church of St Bernadette, Wells Road, Bristol - Bristol, City of (UA)
Parish church designed in 1967 by James Leask of Kenneth Nealon,Tanner & Partners to accompany the Catholic school built on the centenary of the apparitions at Lourdes. Bold and innovative in design and materials, it features a double hyperbolic paraboloid roof carried on projecting concrete piers on a rotated square plan. Some of the original materials are now showing signs of deterioration and this has led to serious issues of water ingress through the roof coverings, affecting the ceiling and the reinforced concrete roof structure. Some episodes of vandalism have also taken place.
