Woolladon Farmhouse, Meeth - West Devon

Farmhouse. Dated 1666 and part of an unaltered farm complex. Plastered cob walls. Gable ended thatched roof. Three-room and through-passage plan, outshut and stairs, two-storey porch and adjoining outshut in front of lower end of hall. Two part stairs, both flights rising from the hall to upper and lower ends. It retained original four-light chamfered wooden mullion windows, chamfered door frames and staircase solid oak treads. A remarkably interesting single phase plan surviving unaltered since the C17. Thatch fire in 2019 leaving extensive damage; now (2020) protected by temporary roof.
