Newarke Wall (Along north west end of Gardens of Newarke Houses Museum), the Newarke - Leicester, City of (UA)

Coursed stone boundary wall of c1423 between St Mary-de-Castro and The Newarke. Walling is time-weathered and has suffered on account of past inappropriate repairs. There is now a sizeable and potentially damaging ivy mantel to the south elevation; the junction between the terminal brick buttress and stone wall is in poor condition and there is a significant self-seeded woody growth in the relatively lower section of wall to the north of the buttress. There is a risk of catastrophic collapse in this location. The Council has been encouraged to remove damaging plant growth and effect repairs.
