Knowle Battery - Plymouth, City of (UA)

Palmerston Fort; part of the site is now the grounds of a primary school. Historic England funded a Condition Survey of the structure with proposals for refurbishment in preparation for re-use of the guardhouse, and a five year Management Agreement to control vegetation. Funding from Historic England and Plymouth City Council addressed the most urgent repair issues and the shell is now in good repair, but there are still issues with water ingress from the land behind the guardhouse. Long-term use is still required. Until a new use is in place the site remains very vulnerable to vandalism.
