Church of St Peter and St Paul, Westbury-on-Severn - Forest of Dean

This church's tower with its tall shingled spire is a landmark on the Severn estuary; the tower dates from c1270, the timber-framed spire was added C14. Spire needed re-covering as the shingles had fallen and fixings had failed so that the steeplejacks could no longer safely carry out repairs. Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England Repair Grant for Places of Worship awarded in December 2012, with the structure repaired in 2016. A second Heritage Lottery Fund Grant for Places of Worship was accepted to re-fix the shingles in 2018.
