Church of Holy Trinity, Church Street East, Sunderland - Sunderland
Former parish church, in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust since 1988. Built 1718-19, with a rounded eastern apse added in 1735. The fabric of the building is deteriorating and there is structural movement, particularly at the east end. A substantial grant was awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2018 to repair the building and establish it as a new cultural venue ('1719'). Urgent temporary repairs were completed with Historic England funding in March 2016. Substantive repairs have commenced on site.
