The Crescent, Buxton - High Peak

1780-1790. Lodging Houses and hotel designed by John Carr of York for the 5th Duke of Devonshire as part of the speculative development of Buxton as a spa resort. External repairs were completed 1993-96 after intervention by the Secretary of State. Permission has been given to convert to a luxury spa hotel. The scheme has attracted substantial funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England. Work on the repair and conversion has started and is estimated to finish in 2019.
