Kirkoswald Castle, Kirkoswald - Eden

Late C15 castle with stone bridge over the moat, north tower 20 metres including remains of a staircase and vaulted cellars. In 1993 the west tower collapsed. Large saplings are growing out of the walls at all levels and roots are dislodging some facing stones. Mature hawthorns growing on the bridge have also dislodged masonry. In March 2019 a costed condition survey plan was commissioned by the National Lottery Heritage Fund-funded Fellfoot Forward Landscape Partnership.
