Sherborne House, Newland, Sherborne - Dorset (UA)

Grand town house of c1720 with earlier elements, formerly a school but last used in the 1990s. Fine internal features include a grand stairhall decorated with Thornhill wall paintings. External reparirs undertaken in 2012 were funded by developent of part of the rear garden but the house remained unused with internal refurbishment still to be completed. It was sold in 2018 and a new charitable trust was set up for it. Following extensive pre-application discussions, the Council has resolved in May 2021 to approve applications for its reuse and development as an arts and community centre.
