Sherborne House, Newland, Sherborne - Dorset (UA)
Grand town house of c1720 with earlier elements, formerly a school last used in the1990s. Fine internal features include a grand stairhall decorated with Thornhill wall paintings. External repairs undertaken in 2012 were funded by development of part of the rear garden but the interior of the house remained unrestored. Following acquisition by a charitable trust in 2018 and extensive pre-application discussions, approval was granted in 2021 for its reuse and development as an arts and community centre. Work to the house is now nearing completion and the development to its rear is well advanced
