Alberbury Castle, Alberbury, Alberbury with Cardeston - Shropshire (UA)
The masonry remains of this C13 castle tower keep are rapidly eroding, heavily colonised by ivy and assorted vegetation and undermined by burrowing animals. A survey was commissioned by Historic England in 2013 as a basis for designing a programme of urgent repair works for discussion with the owner. Subsequent discussions with the Loton Park Estate in 2018 to find a way forward to consolidate and repair the ruin and make it safe and accessible to the public have stalled.
