Church Tower north of Church of St John, St Johns Hill, Shenstone - Lichfield

This C13 derelict tower represents the standing remains of the church replaced by the adjacent C19 building. Previous proposals to repair and find a new use for it have not come to fruition for assorted reasons but following discussions between interested parties and an open public meeting, the 'Friends of Shenstone Tower' group was set up in July 2019 to acquire and repurpose the tower for community use. Following the award of a historic England Heritage at Risk Repairs Grant, a full repairs lease has now been agreed with the Lichfield Diocese. Repair works are due to commence in summer 2021.
