Keppels Column, Admirals Crest, Thorpe Common - Rotherham

Monumental column built 1773 to 1780 to the design of John Carr of York. Now on the edge of Wentworth Woodhouse Estate and a landmark on the approach to Rotherham. Emergency repairs have been carried out to the viewing platform and stairwell, but there are significant structural cracks and stonework erosion. Historic England grant has supported project development which is intended to lead to repair.
