Portico to former London Orphan Asylum, Linscott Road E5 - Hackney

The remaining part of the London Orphan Asylum, circa 1823 by WS Inman. From 1882 the building was the Salvation Army Congress Hall but fell into dereliction after 1975, and the remainder of the building was lost. The building now consists of an entrance portico with colonnades. Behind the entrance is a computer centre by Brady Mallalieu from 2005 on the site of the former chapel. The building was associated with the nearby Clapton Girls Academy until 2017 but is now vacant and disused, and its condition declining.
