Haggerston Baths, Whiston Road E2 - Hackney
Public baths and swimming pool, dating from 1904. The building is vacant and in a state of disrepair. Following a competitive bidding process and public consultation, the Local Authority selected a developer in 2017 to repair the building and bring it back into use. Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent have been granted for a scheme involving restoration and re-purposing as community space, workshops, café, gym and other uses, with demolition of part of the building and erection of a new six-storey office building. Works have yet to commence.
