Physic Well, Well Approach - Barnet

Timber-framed cruciform cover to a well, circa 1937. Beneath is the original C17 barrel-vaulted brick well chamber. Once a fashionable rendezvous for Londoners for the medicinal qualities of the mineral waters. A condition survey was carried out in 2017 with funding from Historic England. Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent were granted in 2018 for the full conservation and repair of the building. Works are in progress with funding from Historic England and the Heritage of London Trust, and are due to be completed in Autumn 2018.
