Grotto in Carshalton Park, Ruskin Road, Carshalton - Sutton

Early C18 grotto in Carshalton Park. The exterior of the grotto has symmetrical curved walls of brick, ramped up gradually to a central peak. The grotto is vulnerable to vandalism and graffiti and is currently threatened by significant vegetative growth. Survey work has been carried out to assess the extent of repairs needed, and Historic England and the Local Authority are discussing potential funding for further surveys necessary to specify repair works.
