Lock and swing bridge, Broadwater Estate SE28 - Greenwich

The Royal Arsenal Canal was built 1812-14 to bring supplies into the arsenal. The swing bridge was built circa 1876 to carry railway tracks across the canal. Some work was carried out to the bridge in the early 1980s but since then the lock and bridge have both lain derelict. The Local Authority and Historic England are in discussions with the owner to secure the first phase of conservation and repair works which will include repointing of brick and stonework, patch repairs, and removal of rust and graffiti.
