Sturminster Newton Castle, Sturminster Newton - Dorset (UA)
Ruins of C14 stone built manor house within Sturminster Newton Castle, a probable Iron Age promontory fort overlooking the River Stour. Upstanding remains are in a very precarious position and a considerable amount of consolidation work is urgently required to avoid significant areas of collapse. Historic England architectural survey team has recorded the structure. The site is up for sale and we hope to engage in discussions with the new owner as soon as possible to discuss the most urgent works.
