Pontefract Castle, Pontefract - Wakefield

Substantial ruins comprising motte, bailey and Saxon cemetery. The Castle is subject to a £3 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund match funded by Wakefield Council and Historic England. A new visitor centre opened in 2017 and consolidation of the ruins is well advanced.
