Electric Palace Cinema, King's Quay Street, Harwich - Tendring

Cinema of 1911. Architect: Harold Ridley Hooper of Ipswich. A rare survival from the early days of purpose-built cinema retaining many of its original features, which was restored and re-opened in 1972 by the Harwich Electric Palace Trust. National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England grant aided major high level repairs and access now completed. Further proposals have been developed for urgent floor repairs in auditorium which the Trust will implement in late 2021, after receiving further support from Historic England with a Repair Grant for Heritage at Risk.
