The Beneficial School, Kent Street, Portsea - Portsmouth, City of (UA)

Charity school of 1784 and 1836, now in use as a dance-drama school/theatre. A Condition Survey has been completed which has identified problems with the roof structure and windows. The governance of the building needs to be rationalised, so that a comprehensive funding package for the necessary repairs can be sought.Historic England, together with the Theatres Trust, have had positive initial meetings about the principle of enabling development to support the repairs, and the further improvement of the buildings for theatre uses.
