Old Cooperage, Royal William Yard, Plymouth - Plymouth, City of (UA)

The Cooperage was built c1826 to 1832 for the Victualling Board, and forms part of the Royal William Yard. Whilst the majority of the Yard has been successfully developed, with a combination of public and private finance, a sustainable future for the whole of the Cooperage has yet to be secured. Part of the building has been successfully converted into artists’ studios; Historic England grant-aided the stone conservation works. The condition of the rest of the building is very bad and potential uses need to be found. Historic England is in dialogue with the leaseholder.
