Duddon Iron Furnace, Millom Without, Copeland - Lake District (NP)

Blast furnace built c.1737 from stone rubble. Consolidation work was undertaken in the 1980s, but gradual deterioration of the complex and movement of the structures have caused significant localised problems. Over the past two years, Historic England has funded a condition survey and urgent repairs to a split lintel holding up the eastern wall of the charcoal barn. A full scheme of repairs across the complex is to be undertaken by the Lake District National Park Authority with funding from Historic England.
