Infrastructure Projects and Heritage
Development consent for nationally significant infrastructure projects is decided by the Secretary of State taking into account all relevant National Policy Statements.
The National Policy Statements contain policies on the conservation of the historic environment to similar effect as those in National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) for mainstream planning and other consents.
The NPPF may be a material consideration in a development consent decision (ref. 1).
