Scheduled Monument Consent Policy
The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has set out some broad considerations that will be taken into account in deciding whether to grant scheduled monument consent in "Scheduled Monuments" published in October 2013 (ref. 1).
The policies are similar to those that apply to the highest graded listed buildings under the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
Granting consent that would result in the substantial harm to or loss of a scheduled monument should be wholly exceptional.
